Addisu Arega and Taye Dendea, OPDO’s Hitman on the Oromo People and the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF)
By Abbaa Ormaa, October 4, 2018
Yaa Oromoo warra dinaa siratii daagagssuu tattaafatuu kanaa duraa dhaabachuun dirqama kenyaa hundattii!
OPDO can changes its name, personnel and symbol but at the core OPDO still stand against the interests of the Oromo people.
We have seen this movie before and it will not end well for all sides this time!
In one-week time we witnessed two not so subtle orchestrated and coordinated attacks on the Oromo Liberation Front and the Oromo people. First, the attorney General (Aqaabee hig) files motion against five Oromo individuals in relation to the horrible assassination attempt on the Prime Minster on December 16 at the Meskel Square. What is troubling about this motion is not that these individuals are accused of the crime but the way it is reported and presented without making a clear distinction between individuals and a political organization. From the day this crime was committed, there were well-founded evidences that the crime was coordinated and financed by the TPLF mafia and the ex-director of the spy gate who, in a surprising turn of events, is now elected by TPLF. All of a sudden we hear this motion and guilt by association of the Oromo Liberation Front. There are others who was jailed in connection with the attack and later released without any public statements. It looks like yet again the whole incident is politicized for political character assassination. The Oromo people are the majority in the empire. If someone robs a bank somewhere in Ethiopia, there is a 45% chance that this person is an Oromo. So are we going to accuse OLF for that too? There is no ground to mention the OLF in relation to this incident unless it is a political hit job. If I am hiring someone to do my dirty job, obviously I advise him or her to say things that advance my hidden agenda behind it. The reason described is exactly what TPLF would have told them to say. The same lies and character assassination were reported at the Burau massacre. The individuals who took part in the massacre are reported asking the victims if they spoke Afaan Oromo and they described themselves as “Qeerroo”.
A troubling signs are emerging that the OPDO is behind an organized effort to discredit the OLF and accuse the Organization of every wrongs in the empire. The same playbook from Meles’s era is being repeated by the likes of Addis Arega and Taye Dendea. It is unfortunate that OPDO and Dr. Abiy choose to travel this path behind the scene and portray a different image on stages.
I am tired of Oromo paying tax in blood and bones to please Abyssinians. How long our people have to die? How many of our people have to be displaced to save an Ethiopia that is built in the image of Amhara?
Why Addisu Arega intentionally misleads the public time and time again blaming Oromo Liberation Front’s army (WBO) and the Oromo people? It sounds like Addisu Arega is tasked with attacking WBO while Taye Dendea goes after the OLF Organization itself.
The Oromo people, especially Qeerroo should make it abundantly clear that it is not acceptable to try to criminalize the Oromo Liberation Front as a cover to demobilize the Oromo Liberation Army. We have seen this movie before and it will not end well for all sides this time! The Oromo people are being tested from every corner and being displaced and massacred every day. It is not the time to disarm. It is time to arm!
If what is happening now is an indication what is to come, we expect many finger pointing to follow. Oromo did not pay its children’s blood and bones to maintain the old empire at the expense of Oromo lives and Oromia!
Addisu Arega and Taye Dendea are aiding and abating by providing ammunition to those who leave no stone unturned to trash and spread Oromo phobia like ESAT and Ginbot 7. Whom are they serving? This has been the trademark of OPDO for the last 28 years and still did not change. OPDO can changes its name, personnel, and symbols but at the core OPDO is still proving to stand against the interests of the Oromo people. Qeerroo and the Oromo people cannot standby when OPDO read from the same playbook to disfranchise the Oromo people.
The world has seen real time that the Oromo Liberation Front enjoys an overwhelming support of the Oromo People, not even close. So, what kind of democratic system is built without full participation of the Oromo People and hence the OLF? What OPDO fails to acknowledge is that the wind of change that is blowing across the horn of Africa is in large part the result of the bloods and bones of the Oromo people, Qeerroo, and yes WBO.
Galani Kessan TOKKUMMAA hatta’uu!
