09 Jan 2022 – (EP) An official in Gondar, Amhara State informs EP that Eritrean soldiers patrolling the Humera – Omhajer border have been invited to attend the Timket (Epiphany) celebration in Gondar City, considered the most colourful, vibrant festival of the year in Ethiopia. The City also kindly invited all Eritreans visiting Ethiopia as part of the “Great Homecoming” to attend the event. Eritrean and Ethiopian Orthodox celebrate Epiphany, the baptism of Jesus Christ on the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
Its anniversary is celebrated on the 19th of every January (20th on leap year).
